Clyne wins second seeds' final ...
Day one at the National Squash Centre saw second seeds Alan
Clyne and Arthur Gaskin assume pole position with two
wins each.
Irishman Gaskin opened his account with a comfortable enough win
over Austrian number one Aqeel Rehman, then followed it up with
a fine five-game win over top seed Tom Richards.
 In Group B Scotsman Clyne started with a straight-games win over
Mark Fuller, a late replacement for Joe Lee, but found himself
two games and 9/3 down to Ireland's top seed John Rooney. After
Clyne had reduced the deficit to 8/9 however, Rooney was forced
to retire injured.
Day two saw Clyne open up with a tough 3-2 win over English
veteran Steve Meads to seal his place in the final, while Gaskin
went down 3-2 against Rob Sutherland, but accrued enough games
to ensure his place in the final on countback.
In the final it was the Scot who prevailed, taking him to fourth
place in the rankings.
