Ross & Rooney make the top eight
The final round saw two players launch themselves into the
end-of-season top eight playoffs at Surrey H&R.
Stacey Ross entered the round thinking second place in
his group might be enough, but needing to make the final to be
sure. After two opening day wins he fell in five to Jethro
Binns on day two, but his games for/against record assured
him of top spot in what turned out to be a three-way tie
including John Rooney, for who the second-place points
were enough to put him into the top eight.
In the other pool Joey Barrington was aiming for two wins
out of two, even if it was too late for him to make the
playoffs, and he moved through the group smoothly enough,
dropping just one game in the process.
However, he
was unable to play the final, giving Ross a walkover and full
points.

end-of-season playoffs will follow a format similar to the Super
Series finals - three days of play with two pools of four - the
top two go through to semi-finals, with playoffs down to 8th
place.
