Edition of #ELGOUNASQUASH continues today with 8 second round matches
as Round Two begins (as
does the MASTERS).
Sherbini survives and
Chinappa finally beats David as the first quarter-finalists are decided
Day Five of the 2018 l Gouna International saw eight second round
matches in the top half of the draw, split between the El Gouna Squash
Complex and the CI Capital Glass Court Arena.
Joshna Chinappa produced a big upset in the afternoon matches as
she beat Nicol David for the first time in fifteen attempts, winning in
straight games too. She'll face Laura Massaro for a place in rthe
semis after the fourth seede Englishwoman eased past Joey Chan.
Top seed
Nour El Sherbini gave the home crow a bit of a fright as the world
#1 survived a five game battle against the returning Amanda Sobhy,
coming from 5-6 down in the fifth with a run of points much to the
relief of herself and her team.
Sherbini will face Camille Serme in the quarters, the Frenchwoman
blitzing past Victoria Lust in the afternoon matches.
No upsets in
the men's matches as the ElShorbagy brothers both Omar Mosaad
while Marwan beat France's Mathieu Castagnet.
Mohamed will meet Simon Rosner after the top German beat Declan
James in three, while Marwn will be up against felow Egyptian Karim
Abdel Gawad who overcame Frenhqualifier Lucas Serme in four games.
