Qualifying Finals
The 7th
Edition of #ELGOUNASQUASH continued today with 16 qualifying finals
matches at the El Gouna Squash Complex.
Egyptian trio advance in
women's
The day started with a hat-trick of Egyptian winners as Zeina
Mickawy beat top seeded Canadian Sam Cornett, and was joined in the
main draw by Mayar Hany and Nadine Shahin.
That was the end of the Egyptian run oin the women's matches, but the
upsets didn't end as Sivasangari Subramaniam beat third seed
Millie Tomlinson and Liu Tsz-Ling got the better of sixth seed
Nele Gilis.
Second seed Fiona Moverley was tested again, needing five games
for the second day in a row to see off teenager Jana Shihah.
English threesome through in
Men's
In the men's matches there were two further upsets as Mohamed Reda
beat Omar Abdel Aziz and Ben Coleman came from two games down to
dent Tsz Fung Yip.
A good day for the English was rounded off by Chris Simpson's
hard-fought win over Youssef Soliman, and Josh Masters' win over
yesterday's giantkiller Ahmed Hosny.
Today's
winners will find out who they meet in the main draw at tonight's
opening reception at The Smokery.
