BARBADOS BOYS
Jonathan
O’Dowd (BU-19)
Jonathan is the current Under
19 National Champion and will be representing Barbados in this
age group for the second time. His consistent performances last
year in Junior CASA 2009 resulted in him being seeded in the top
eight in this age group at the end of those Championships. He
will be looking to improve on that performance in Cayman this
year.
Moishe
Steinbok (BU-19)
Moishe came second in both the U-19 and U-17 age groups in the
Junior National Championships in March year. He has since turned
17 and so will represent Barbados in the Under-19 age group in
Cayman. He is attending University in Canada and as a result his
game is improving steadily month by month. He is a hard working
player who never gives up and is hoping to perform well at this
year’s tournament.
Matthew
Mackenzie (BU-17)
Matthew is one of the most talented of our current crop of
players and on his day can give anyone a real run for their
money. Just ask his dad! He is the current Under 17 National
Championships and will be representing Barbados for the third
time. This talented youngster is working hard at his squash and
will definitely be a handful for all of his opponents in Cayman
this year.
Zaki
Williams (BU-17)
This will be Zaki’s first ever tour and he will be competing in
the U-17 age group since he has just turned 15 years old. This
talented youngster has worked hard at his squash over the last
year and is definitely one to watch for the future.
Stewart
St. John (BU-15)
Stewart won his second successive National Under 15 title in
March and is looking forward to the challenge of competing in
this age group at the Caribbean level for the second time.
Stewart continues to work hard and is a very determined
competitor, which should help him perform well in Cayman.
Brandon
Straker (BU-15)
This is Brandon’s second year on the Barbados team. He is a very
talented player who is really excited about doing his best for
Barbados this year at Junior CASA.
Danny
Chesham (BU-13)
This also is Danny’s second year with the Barbados team. He is
the current Under 11 National Champion and is really keen
competitor and an excellent cricketer as well! He is looking
forward to the challenge of this year’s Junior CASA
Championships.
BARBADOS GIRLS
Zoe
Lisk (GU-19)
Zoe has moved up an age group this year and came second in this
year’s Under 19 National Championships. She has been a regular
on the team since 2005. Her performances of late have fallen
somewhat due to her focus on academic studies, but once her
exams were over with she has been working hard to raise the
level of her game and hopes that it will pay off at Junior CASA.
Asha
Gibbs (GU-17)
Asha has had a long break away from squash this year in order to
concentrate on her school work. She has made a welcome return to
the courts and should be competitive once again at this year’s
Junior CASA.
Gylla
Mackenzie (GU-15)
This is Gylla’s third year on the Barbados team. She retained
her Under-13 National title in March and at that time also
became the youngest ever winner of the Girls U-19 National title
at age 12 years and 10 months! A real fighter who never gives
up, Gylla will definitely be one to watch at this year’s
tournament.
Amanda
Haywood (GU-13)
This is Amanda’s first appearance on the Barbados team. She is
the current Under-13 National Champion and at age 10 is the
youngest member of this young Barbados squad. She is another
youngster to watch since she is potentially the most talented
player in the team.
BARBADOS TEAM MANAGEMENT
Jeannette Cullen (Manager)
This is Jeannette’s first stint as Manager of the Junior
National Team. She is the current BSA Secretary was heavily
involved on the Organizing Committee for Junior CASA 2009 in
Barbados. She is looking forward to all the challenges that a
Junior CASA tour can bring!
Jonathan
Gallacher (Coach)

Squash in Barbados but he has really hit the ground running. He
has already planned and executed two major tournaments in
Barbados; organized training for four national teams;
reorganized the junior development programme; planned a summer
squash camp and, in his spare time won an age group tournament
to boot. He may be able to get some rest on this tour while
urging his new charges to do their best for their country!
