Thu 13th April, Semi-Finals:
Down to the last four
in El Gouna
Gregory
Gaultier was the first winner as he beat Marwan Elshorbagy
in straight games. The Frenchman fook a 6-1 lead but Marwan
fought back, but Gaultier took the game 12/10.
For
the next two game it was all Gaultier as he reached his second
successive El Gouna final.
In the final he'll face Karim Abdel Gawad, who came from
a game down to beat Fares Dessouky in an all-Egyptian matchup.
The
result means that Gawad will overtake Gaultier in the world
rankings, becoming world #1 on 1st May.
Defending champion Nour El Sherbini made it back to the
Women's Worlds final as she beat compatriot Nouran Gohar in four
games. Dominant in the first two games, Sherbini had five match
balls from 10-8 in the third before Gohar snatched it at the
death in extra points.
The
fourth was close, but Sherbini needed just one match ball this
time.
Raneem El Welily set up an all-Egyptian final as she beat
Camille Serme in four.
The first two games were traded, each taking one comfortably,
but after saving a game ball in the third it was Welily who
regained the lead before racing through the fourth to reach her
second World final.
