Coll crashes into St George's Final
as Momen stops Willstrop ...
Qualifier
Paul Coll continued his amazing run at St George's as he
beat in-form Englishman Daryl Selby in four games to reach the
biggest final - by far - of his career.
The Kiwi was in charge for most of the match, Selby making a
comeback to take the third, but Coll picked up the game again
from the start of the fourth and Selby couldn't respond this
time.
"I
never expected that much," said Coll, "now I have to change my
flight to NZ, I was supposed to go home for Christmas, it’s
going to cost a fortune!!!!!! But I’m over the moon, it’s been a
crazy week!!!"
Selby said: "I’ll keep pushing over Christmas. I’m a hungry boy,
I want it and I’ll be coming back stronger…"
Tarek
Momen maintained Egyptian interest in the championship as he
edged past James Willstrop in three close games.
Momen, seeded five, led the first 10-5 before stopping sixth
seeded Willstrop's comeback to take the lead 11-9, then used his
pace and court coverage to great effect as he squeezed out the
next two games, winning the crucial points from 9-all in both.
"I
used a combination of attacking to the back and to the front
pretty well to help achieve this result, I'm really happy with
it," said Momen.
Whoever wins tomorrow it will be their most valuable title to
date.
