After a great start to his junior career injury sidelined Ramy Ashour for a while, but he returned in spectacular fashion to take the world junior title in 2005, the british junior open in 2007, and an unprecedented second world junior title in 2007.

His senior career simply continued the pattern as he became the first person to win his first-ever PSA event, and went on to capture a host of Super Series titles in 2007 and 2008, culminating in becoming Super Series Finals champion at the first attempt.

After a number of injury setbacks he came good again, capturing the 2008 World Open title in Manchester.
