Kristian conquers in all-Danish final
Top
seed Kristian Frost triumphed in an all-Danish final of
the Sekisui Open, repeating his triumph at the same venue in
last year's Pilatus Cup.
Earlier in the day Frost, the top-seeded Danish champion, had
seen of the challenge of Frenchman Julien Balbo in straight
games to set up a final with Danish team-mate Rasmus Nielsen,
who beat second-seeded German Jens Schoor 3-0 in the other
semi-final.
The final confirmed the Danish rankings with Nielsen, the world
number 81, pulling a game back after Frost, ranked 69, had take
a two-game lead, but Frost rallied to take a close fourth game
to claim his fifth career PSA title.
"I
am very happy for winning the title. The last day was very very
hard with two matches both lasting very long.
"I really played well in the first game. I managed to start very
well in the second as well, but Rasmus put me under a lot of
pressure. I had a good lead and managed to sneak the game. From
that point it was even, but I got through in the end!
Thank you Mario, Pascal and Sekisui for putting on such a good
event. A big thanks to my sponsors, my family and Camilla for
always supporting me.
See you in two weeks! [for the Pilatus Cup]
