Experienced campaigners David Palmer and Stewart
Boswell head the Australian squash team for the World Men’s
Teams Championships to be held in the German city of Paderborn
from August 21-27.
Palmer and Boswell, who will both be playing in their fifth
editions of the biennial tournament, will be joined in Paderborn
by 2009 teammates Cameron Pilley and Aaron Frankcomb.
The Australian team has a long and proud history at the
championships, having won eight times and finished runner-up on
three occasions. They finished in third place in Denmark in 2009
behind Egypt and England, who will again be the favourites this
year.
The Australian team will be coached by national head coach
Byron Davis and former British Open champion Anthony
Ricketts.
Squash Australia CEO Gary O’Donnell said Palmer and
Boswell were two of the most distinguished players ever to
represent Australia.
"They are both fine servants of the game and have contributed
wonderfully to Australian squash," O’Donnell said. "They first
represented Australia at this level in 2001 and are still going
strong today.
"With Cameron and Aaron also in the team, we are sending our
strongest possible squad to Germany."
