Qualifying concludes ...
Qualifying for the British Open concluded
today at the
University of Hull.
In
the men's finals the first six matches all went to seeding
before Germany''s Raphael Kandra upset Wimbledon finalist
Omar Abdel Meguid, and in-form Kiwi Paul Coll took out
second seed Leo Au to claim unexpected places in the main draw.
There were three upsets in the women's matches as Mariam
Metwally beat the experienced Samantha Teran in four games,
Mayar Hany won her all-Egyptian match with Nadine Shahin,
and Nele Gilis beat Deon Saffery to join boyfriend Coll in the
World Series draw.
