No luck for Locals in Linkoping

No upsets on day one of the 2014 edition of the CASE Swedish Open, and no joy either for the four Swedes in action at the Linkoping Sports Centre.

Top seeds Mathieu Castagnet and Chris Simpson were both stretched though, Frenchman Castagnet needing all five games to end the challenge of Mohamed Abouelghar, and Simpson winning a tough four/game mach against Sweden's former Frenchman Romain Tenant.

Of the other Swedish hopefuls, Christian Drakenberg lost out in four games to Shaun Le Roux, while Carl Remle and Aryan Ahmed both lost out in straight games against much higher/ranked opponents.

Fans can look forward to four very tough qualifying finals tomorrow, with seven of the eight players ranked inside the world's top forty.
