18-Nov, Day TWO:
Qualifying Finals at Sky

Eight places were up for grabs in the main draw today, and it was no surprise that six of them were taken by Egyptians.

Having been last on court last night, waiting fo his opponent to arrive, Ahmed Hosny was the first to qualify as he beat Tristan Eysele in straight games.

Star performances of the day were by Ahmed Hussein, who beat top seed Ammar Altamimi in five games, and by England's Youseff Abdalla who beat Mohamed Essam El Din 11/9 in the fifth. The young Englishman's 'reward' is a meeting with top seed Karim Darwish tomorrow!

Full results and updated draw on the DRAW page

Before the last match - which saw Fares Dessouki ease past Germany's Tim Weber - the opening ceremony was held, on an inside court rather than outside on the glass court due to the heavy rain which had been falling most of the day.
