What they said:
Jan Van
Den Herrewegen:
I felt really confident on court today, having played quite
some matches on this courts already.
The first game was quiet tough, but then I relaxed and went
for it. Thanks of course to my couch Mark to come up from
Belgium.
Looking for another good performance in the main draw
tomorrow.
Jaakko Vahamaa:
I was struggling with the pace and end up trying too
difficult shots when I was under pressure.
Jonas
Daehler:
-
Happy to make the main draw again. It was really tough. I
had a bad start in the first game with being 1-6 down.
Somehow I found my way into the game and won it 11-9. The
second game was all the way close.
A few dives later, I was 10-4 up in the third. Managed to
win it 11-7. Looking forward to play another day at my home
club.
Trystan Eysele:
It was a tough match, both of us gave all. The first and the
second game could have gone either way.
He played the important points better than me today and
that?s why he won.
I enjoyed playing this tournament and hope to do better next
time.
Ashley
Davies:
Well Tom is a class act and I looked up to him in the
juniors.
So it is always hard to beat somebody you respect but I
really kept my head together in the match and managed to
sneak the match 3-1.
Tom de Mulder:
Felt like I couldn`t get enough oxygen in the lungs during
the whole match. All credit to Ashley. He took my breath
away.
Manuel
Wanner:
Thanks to organizers and sponsors who put up another great
"Squash-Festival"!
Lyell Fuller:
Happy to get through in 3 games meaning im fresh for the
main draw. I know Manuels game well as we played some tough
battles in juniors
and I did well sticking to my tactics when in got tight.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
26-May,Qualifying under way
The
second World Tour tournament of this year's Squash-Festival
in Kriens kicked off today. The qualification of the PSA
Sekisui Open 2015 started at 3pm with two matches running
simultaneously every hour until 6pm.
All higher-ranked players were able to win their matches and
most of them got through easily without droping a game.
Closest tie was the one between Swiss number seven and
twenty-one - Jonas Dähler and Amadeo Costa.
Costa was able to take off two games from the higher seeded
Dähler, before Jonas eventually closed the match with a
clear 11-3 in the fifth. Also Cedric Kuchen managed to win a
game against Englishman Lyell Fuller, but that was all.
Tomorrow should bring up some exciting Squash as all the
seeded qualification players look out for a maindraw spot.
Although most of the Swiss crew lost today, Swiss hopes are
still alive as Manuel Wanner and Jonas Dähler are in the
clashes for one of the last four maindraw places.
