26-Aug:
Double AR Rotterdam
Open ready for kick off
The
Double AR Rotterdam Open Squash 2013 kicks-off on Tuesday
August 27th at 1pm with first round of qualifying action.
Sixteen players are vying for four available spots in the main
draw during the two day qualifying completion of the new PSA
Challenger 15 championship in Rotterdam, which takes place at
the renowned sporting club Victoria.
The most noticeable match-up in the first round action of the
qualification draw, which was released today by the PSA, is the
match between England’s Declan James and Dutch ace
Piedro Schweertman. The youngster from Nottingham claimed
his first PSA title (in his home club) on Sunday and is looking
to continue his fine form. Schweertman however plays at his home
club this time round and is looking to create a stunning upset.
Once the qualifying procedure is complete, the four players will
progress into the main draw which kicks off on Thursday
August 29th. The entry list is headed by eight-time Dutch
national champion Laurens Jan Anjema and Double AR
sponsored player Adrian Grant from England.
Anjema faces one of the qualifiers as he starts his campaign to
win another PSA title on home soil at 7.30pm on Thursday night,
while Grant plays Czech number one Jan Koukal at 4pm.
Tournament promoter Neeraj Aggarwal is very excited by
the strong field of the draw and the week-long of matches: "It
is great to be working with first time sponsor Double AR to host
a squash championship of this calibre in conjunction with a high
profile tennis tournament.
"The Double AR Rotterdam Open has attracted some very high
profile players and having four players in the top-30 in the
world, including local superstar Laurens Jan Anjema, makes this
event even more exciting."
The tournament is also a first for the partnership with the
tennis tournament, HDI Gerling Rotterdam Open, making
this event one of a kind. Double AR acting as the major sponsor
are also first time sponsoring a squash tournament, in an effort
