Hartkoren grabs last wildcard
spot
Frank
Hartkoren has secured the last available wildcard place for
the Forexx Dutch Open Squash 2008.
The 20-year old Dutchman, hailing from Hoofddorp, proved too
strong for his same aged compatriot Bastiaan Meulenbelt
in a specially arranged Play-Off match held at Frans Otten
Stadion today. Hartkoren won the match 11-9, 11-8, 11-6.
The MeerSquashHeroes team player will join fellow countrymen
Rene Mijs, Sander Kock and Bart Ravelli, who
earlier received wildcards from the tournament organizers, in
the qualifying competition for the biggest professional squash
tournament staged in mainland Europe this year, which takes
place in the renowned Frans Otten Stadion in Amsterdam.
Qualifying will get under way on Tuesday (September 2nd) at
noon, with Dutch champion Annelize Naudé, 22-year old
Orla Noom, Dagmar Vermeulen (wildcard) and Milou
van der Heijden (wildcard) representing the host country in
a strong women’s qualifying field.
The final of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) 3 star
championship and Women’s International Squash Players
Association (WISPA) Gold tournament will take place on Sunday
September 7th.
