 TODAY 2015:
Fri 2nd, Day ONE
The
2015 edition of the world's most prestigious
junior event kicked off today, with matches
starting at 9am at three venues -
Abbeydale, Hallamshire and Fulwood.
With so much going on it's tricky to do a
roundup other than to say "no major
upsets to report".
 There's
one notable exception to that though, as
England's Joshua Owen beat the
B15 3/4 seed Viktor Byrtus (the runner-up in
last year's U13 event) in four tough games.

At Abbeydale it was the first round of Boys
U19 - they play twice tomorrow - while the
Girls played two rounds and are down to the
last sixteen tomorrow. In the U15 events the
Boys went through two rounds today, the
Girls join in tomorrow.
At Hallamshire it was the U17 and U13
events, again two rounds for some, with one
or two rounds tomorrow to decide the
quarter-finalists.
 With
40 Egyptian players here, and many if not
most of them expected to still be active in
the ;later stages of the event, today was a
bit of a wake up call for Egyptian coach
Omar Abdel Aziz.
Omar was at Abbeydale from 7am (with Nouran
Gohar) to 8.30pm (after Mariam Metwally
played) and ended yearning for his
recently-past PSA days where he just played
his match and left!
