Main and Qualifying Draws
03-Feb, Day ONE: Barker out injured
England's
Peter Barker, the World No.8, has withdrawn from the CASE
Swedish Open due to injury.
The 31-year-old from Essex had been due to play South
African Stephen Coppinger, the man who beat him at the
quarter-final stage of the recent Suburban Collection Motor
City Open, but will now miss the tournament entirely,
meaning Coppinger moves up in the draw to face wildcard
Rasmus Hult in the opening round.
Barker's withdrawal sees fellow Essex-man Adrian Waller
profit as the 25-year-old automatically moves into the main
draw where he will face German World No.10 Simon Rösner.
02-Feb, Qualifying Draw
The qualifying
draw for the CASE Swedish Open sees four Swedish players
taking on some of the world's top players in a bid to earn a
place in the main draw.
Qualifying takes place in Linköping and Norköping on Tue 3rd

on the glass court.
Meanwhile, there's plenty of promotion for the tournament in
and around Linköping, and the Glass Court is going up ...

The winner of that match is likely to face Swiss champion
Nicolas Mueller in the quarter-finals in one of the
toughest draws of the year.
Defending Swedish Open champion Nick Matthew will
begin his campaign against a qualifier and will be confident
of securing a victory that will take him through to the
quarter-finals where big-hitting Aussie Cameron Pilley
is likely to lay in wait.
English interest is boosted by third and fourth seeds
Peter Barker and James Willstrop, making his
return after hip surgery ruled him out of the last few major
events. Barker faces a tough oipening match against South
African Steve Coppinger, while Willstrop faces
fellow-Englishman Chris Simpson.
Local hopeful Rasmus Hult, the event's wildcard,
begins his campaign against the imposing figure of Germany's
Simon Rösner.
