17-Apr, Finals:

Lisa Aitken bt Julianne Courtice            6/11, 11/4, 11/8, 11/4 (43m)

Andy Whipp bt Joel Hinds            10/12, 11/5, 11/7, 7/11, 11/9 (65m)

Aitken and Whipp are Ilkley Squash champions

Scotland's Lisa Aitken proved to be to strong for Julianne Courtice, winning 3-1. Aitkin got off to a slow start, losing the first set quickly, but quickly up the tempo of the game and started to gain control, moving Courtice more and making less unforced errors. Both players showed remarkable court coverage.

The men’s final was between the top 2 seeds, Joel Hinds (1) the defending champion and Andy Whipp (2).

The match was played at a tremendous pace, with both players having many punishing rallies as game see sawed from 1 player to another. Hinds Lead 9-6 in the 5th, but a couple of basic errors let Whipp back into the match. At 10-9 to Whipp, Hinds put a backhand drop into the tin to end this outstanding final of 65 minutes of squash at the highest level.

Thank you for all the players who came to Ilkley this year and hope to see everyone back again next year.
