Day Two at the NSC
All
but one of the top two seeds made it through to the afternoon
semi-finals, the exception being Charlie Lee, who mounted
a tremendous comeback from two-nil down to beat U17 second seed
Robbie Keefe in a 100-minute marathon. Not content with that, he
went on to beat 3/4 seed Harry Falconer in another five-setter
in the semi-finals to earn a well-deserved break until tomorrow!
Annother dramatic quarter-final win was Alison Thomson's
13-11 in the fifth win over Kace Bartley, also saving three
match balls in the decider.
Wales'
Owain Taylor created the only other seeding upsetin the
quarters as he saved three match balls in coming back in the
fifth to beat U19 3/4 seed Bradley Masters 12-10 in the fifth
after 84 minutes.
In the semis Mari Taylor made it two five-setters in a
row as she came back from two-nil down to beat U17 second Elin
Harlow.
Thereafter
it was generally the top seeds who prevailed, with the exception
of Patrick Rooney, the 3/4 seed who beat longtime
sparring partner and second Conor Sheen in the B19 semis. Not as
surprising as it sounds, as Patrick has only lost once to Conor,
whose ranking was higher due to more tournaments played.
