It's a sixth for Olli
Olli Tuominen took his sixth Finnish Open title today in Mikkeli,
beating Jan Van Den Herrewegen from Belgium in a thrilling match
that went all the way to the fifth game.
Herrewegen was in slight command in the beginnig of the match
and the crowd was getting worried after the third game with the
young Belgian leading 2-1.
Luckily touminen didn’t worry and he got his game running in the
normal Tuominen way. The fourth and fifth games were dominated
by Tuominen and he took the match and his 6th title, in his 8th
final.

Olli reaches 8th Finnish final
Olli Tuominen will try to win the Savcor Finnish Open for 7th
time in tomorrow’s final.
In Saturday’s semis Tuominen beat Engöan’s Adam Murrills in four
games. Touminen got a good start and rushed to an 8-2 lead which
Murrills managed to reduce to a 7-11 loss.
In the second game Tuominen again was ahead by 10-6, but Murrills fought back and
took the game by 13-11. Tuominen got his game under control in
the third winning it 11-6 and continued by winning the fourth
11-6.

In the other semi second seed Jan van den Herrewegen was the
clear favorite against the 5th seed Kristian Frost fron Denmark.
Frost started well by taking the first game 11-5. In the 2nd
game Frost had his chances by leading 8-6 before Herrewegen took
command. Second game to Herrewegen and the 3rd and 4th games
were more or less straight forward for Herrewegen.

Olli through to semis
The most waited match of the night was Olli Tuominen's 500th
PSA-match.The Finn took on Austria's Aqeel Rehman for a place in
the semifinals.

Rehman started well and took a 4-0 lead befor
Tuominen got his game going. He came back to take the game 11-9.
The second game followed the same patters with Tuominen winning
11-8. The thirs game was all Tuominen who took a 10-0 lead and
dropped 3 point before closing the match 3-0.
Third seed Adam Murrills was expected to take a comfortable
victory agains 8th seed Martin Svec. Svec didn’t care about
these expectation and put up a fight which gave him the first
game 11-4.
In the second game Svec was ahead until 7-6 but then Murrills
took five point in a row to equal the score. The rest was
Murrills’ dominance although Svec got close losing the match
3-1.
The only upset to the seedings was when 5th seed Kristian Frost
form Denmark beat 4th seed Jaymie Heycocks from ENgland in
straight games.
Second seed Jan van den Herrewegen from Belgium had perhaps more
difficulties than expected with England's Charlie Lee.
Herrewegen was that much sharper and could handle the crusial
moments better to take a 3-0 victory.

Aijanen joins English trio in main draw
Finland managed to secure one more player to the main draw of
the Savcor Finnish Open in Mikkeli. It was Miko Äijänen
who started the night with a 3-1 victory over Scotland’s Cris
Leiper.
Miko joins top seed Olli Tuominen, wild card Matias Tuomi and
older brothe Jami Äijänen in the first round and faces second
seed Jan van der Herrewegen.
In the second match Englishman Stuart Macgregor beat
compatriot Matthew Broadberry in four games and was draw to meet
Martin Svec.
The third match was the longest of the day. In 75 minutes
Englishman Connor Sheen took a place in the maindrar by
beating Roman Allinckx from Switzerland 3-2 and faces Aqeel
Rehman from Austria.
The last match of the night was between yet another Englisman
Miles Jenkins who took on Finland’s Jaakko Vähämaa, Jenkins
was just so much stronger that he managed a 3-1 win ond a place
in the main draw against Olli Tuominen.
