It's a fifth Finnish title for Olli in Mikkeli
Poku Salo reports

The men’s final was a replay of last year’s final between defending champion Olli Tuominen and last year’s runner-up Karim Abdel Gawad.

A tough match with lots of lets and arguing with the referee. Both players had their moments and the outcome was not to be predicted until the last ball was played.

In the end it was Olli Tuominen who came out as the winner and secured his fifth Finnish Open title.

The women’s new champion is Yathreb Adel of Egypt. The fourth seed only need 22 minutes to take the title against Austria’s second seed Birgit Coufal.

10-Feb, Semis:
Olli aims for fifth Finnish title inMikkeli
Poku Salo reports

Home favorite Olli Tuominen will go for his fifth Finnish title on Monday in Mikkeli when he meets last year's runner-up Karim Abdel Gawad of Egypt.

In today's semifinals Tuominen did not get off as well as expected and the surprise semifinalist Rasmus Nielsen took the first game. In the second game Tuominen got his game under control and he took the three following games quite comfortably.

Gawad made his way to the final with a clear three game victory over fellow egytian Karim Al Fathi in 30 minutes.

In the women's event top seed Lotte Eriksen of Norway was beaten in 27 minutes by fourth seed Yathreb Adel of Egypt. The 16 year old Adel dominated the match from start to finish and the was never a question who would go to the final.

The other semifinal was a more evenly contested match between 2nd and 3rd seeds Birgit Coufal of Autstria and Victoria Bell of England, with Coufal gaining revenge for her loss to Bell in Edinburgh last month.

Olli wins all-Finnish quarter-final in Mikkeli
Poku Salo reports

The long awaited clash between Finland's top two players, Olli Tuominen and Henrik Mustonen, did not leave any doubts who is still the Finnish number one.

Tuominen came on court well prepared and concentrated, took the balls early and put pressure on Mustonen, who had his moments in the third game when leading 5-3 and 7-6. That was how far Mustonen came, as Tuominen took the next five points and the match.

Second seed Karim Abdel Gawad had some difficulties in getting his game together and qualifier Mohamed Abouelghar put real pressure in the two first games.

Third seed Karim Al Fathi and Steven Finitsis played a long and entertaining match, with Fathi coming through as the winner.

Qualifier Rasmus Nielsen continued to upset the seedings and beat fourth seed Jan Koukal to reach the semifinals.

In the women's draw all top seeds made their way through to the semifinals. Only Birgit Coufal had to give one game away to Mennat Nasser but otherwise it was straightforward for the seeds.
