CNS International 2013
18-23 Dec, Karachi, Pakistan, $15k |
23-Dec, Final:
Farhan Mehboob
bt [1] Nasir Iqbal 116, 11/6, 11/5
(51m)
Mehboob makes it five in Karachi
Farhan Mehboob collected his fifth PSA title with a straight-games
win over top seed Nasir Iqbal in the final of the PDA $15k CNS
International at the Roshan Khan/Jahangir Khan Squash complex in
Karachi

The final may not have gone into a cliffhanger five setter but Magic
boy Mehboob played the match with ease and magical racket skills to
win comfortably. No doubt Nasir Iqbal is an up coming future player
who has the ability to fight for every rally, but all the credit
today goes to Hawk eyed Farhan Mehboob who made Iqbal visit
the four corners of the court.
Chief
Guest for the final was Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif
Sandila who gave away the prizes. Beside the chief guest Squash
Legend Jahangir Khan, SVP PSF Syed Razi Nawab, Secy Amir Nawaz were
also witnesses the final.
"It
was a big moment in my career, as critics had long written me down
and out and said my days are over, but now I proved all my critics
wrong by defeating the top seed Nasir and that too without any major
difficulty," Mehboob told The Nation later.
"I must thank head coach Jamshed Gul for spending a lot of time with
me in the training as it was his hard work which paid off. Another
motivation behind me was my father Mehboob Khan who also spent day
and night with me in the courts to polish my game and skills.
"I am happy that the performance in this event is one of the best in
my entire career and I have not trained much before the event. I
have to play the likes of Danish, Farhan Zaman and now Nasir Iqbal,
but I managed to show outstanding skills against the three tough
opponents and won the title."
The final match was Live Telecast on Pakistan Television.
Thanks to Pakistan National Coach Jamshed Gul for the
report
and results.
