21-Sep, Final

[3] Tom Ford (Eng) 3-0 [5] Geoffrey Demont (Fra)
                      11/5, 11/3, 11/2

English Tom Ford was the big winner of the PSA Challenger ANADIA 2014! He defeated the French Geoffrey Demont in the final by 3-0, securing his second victory in the PSA Tour!.

We knew that the finalists were tired and that the efforts of the semi-finals certainly influence the performance of both in the Final match.

The final result was 3-0, 11/5, 11/3, and 11/2 and for all present the full realization that the French exhausted physically and mentally, could do little more than scoring a few points in the final.

Tom, much cooler did not yield any chance of reaction to Geoffrey and so we conclude that the French turned out to be easy prey in three games! Just over 30 minutes was the total time of the match and deservedly so Tom Ford secured the second win in a PSA professional tournament !!!

At the prize giving ceremony presided over by the Mayor Eng Teresa Cardoso, with representative of the Tourism Center Dr Filomena Pinheiro, Vice-President of the National Federation Squash Dr. Luís Carvalho - Promoter Dr. Jose Jose Soares and Paulo Mamede of Anadia Squash Club.

The athletes received their awards and thanks, Tom said the good organization and the exemplary work that Portugal and prosecutors have done lately in favour of National and World squash and also claimed to have been a pleasure and an honor to have been present and ensured second PSA title.

Highlighted the fact that he was feeling fine in the company of other players and appreciates their support.

As for Dr. Filomena Pinheiro Tourism Center primarily emphasized the overall availability and identification of TC to the reality of the so called sports tourism and this organization and in particular the City of Anadia can always count on their collaboration and support events such as PSA CHALLENGER ANADIA 2014 bring the beautiful downtown area athletes from around the world and thus take a bit of Portugal and guaranteed saw the best the region has.

Finally Engineering. Teresa Cardoso, ended the ceremony by thanking and congratulating the winner and players and highlighted the fact that this organization and the Board wish to do more and better! Highlighted the fact that the facilities are up to the expected and also said it was an honor for the City Council receive events like this and in particular be your wish for next year 2015, the PSA Challenger ANADIA returns to PSA World Circuit.

Thus ended the PSA ANADIA CHALLENGER 2014 and quite honestly I say to you that and much exceeded our expectations! Had a high competitive level, performance and fair play of the athletes was impeccable and everyone felt that the mission was accomplished in the purposes we set ourselves.

I maintain that it was an honour to see our junior athletes to have very good performances in the matches played, the Clinical Training with athletes PSA, ran well and were to everyone's liking and the formation of arbitration for juniors, could not have gone better! And so it is when we can just be happy and do everything to keep the good things for the future and fix those evaluated as having gone less well.

Not finish without thanking the Town Hall Anadia it's President and Vice-president Engineering Teresa Cardoso and Eng. Jorge Sampaio for the great support and sponsor the event, without which it would not be even possible to carry out the PSA Challenger ANADIA 2014 and of course the Tourism Center in the persons of its President Dr. Peter Machado and Drª Filomena Pinheiro who helped us open the doors of the central region! Of course we also thank the great collaboration of Hotel Cabecinho, the Ideal Drinks, from Vip Domotec, the National Squash Federation and Anadia Squash Club, its directors, athletes and family, who passionately followed this organization from the first to the last day.

It's all from Anadia and hope see you all in PSA ANADIA CHALLENGER 2015

FROG'S TALK

The other semifinal will be between Tom Ford and Joel Hinds.

The first to go into action were the Czech Jan Koukal and the South African Thoboki. From the beginning it was notorious that Jan was not in the best condition but he gave a lot of fight to the South African! Despite Jan being 2-0 down with suffering could come to 2-2 but after his leg didn’t allow play!

In the other matches, Geoffrey began by lose the first game but Garbi in the following three can do no more than try to postpone uninhabitable! In fact today the French managed to dominate the Spanish!

Another fantastic day of competition with top seeded scoring position and not to yield the final result.

Rui Soares imposing one game to Jan Koukal but ended up losing 3-1.

The day started early with a visit to the Cellars of Ideal Drinks. The players spend good time because in reality they could learn how to produce wine of great quality.

After a smal period was 17: 00H and the first four athletes were already within the courts of Anadia with the same compounds as well public.

With the exception of Rui and Bernat match, all the rest were resolved with 3 games. Rui went very well in the match by imposing an impressive finisher capacity! After the first game Jan, fielded all his experience and took Rui commit some unforced errors.

However we must emphasize the fact that in reality Rui face the # 1 seeded and actually have fought and a firm decision to not be intimidated.

The first eight seeded not facilitated and so tomorrow we have guaranteed the quarter-finals stronger than we could wish for.

18-Sep, Round One:

Many were the matches that ended with the score 3-2 with superb performances and athletes have too much suffered to win their confrontations! As we would expect, the first four seeded remain in competition with clear 3-0 to their opponents.

Today was the confirmation of the good form of Rui Soares! Rui had defeated the Dutch Marc Sluis 3-0 and opened the best way the competition of the day! Rui turned out to be the only Portuguese to reach the knockout round.

Tomorrow at 17:00H he faces the Czech Jan Koukal! Will certainly be a tough match but Rui applied for sure can afford to discuss the match.

Then there were many intense matches ...

Highlight - Bernat Jaume Spain win in almost 120 minutes the Swiss Manuel Wanner by 3-2! Also for the match between French Geoffrey Demont had to recover from 0-2 to 3-2 with his compatriot Baptiste Masotti.

The last Portuguese into action was the Tomás Silva that was defeated by 3-0 by Michael Harris.

The remaining matches of the day were showing that the balance and level is really high in this tournament!

Highlight for Baptiste Masotti who defeated with a 3-0 the 1st sead the Spanish Dani Pascual. Also for the confrontation between the Swiss Manuel Wanner who beat by 3-2 the English Connor Sheen!
