It's all happening there. In the past weeks, we heard that Jahangir declined working with Pakistan's Federation. Well, Jansher was only too glad to accept...

RECYCLING SQUASH BALLS????
Last year, I got an email from Lee Witham about recycling squash balls. Here is the follow up...
"Hi Fram, you probably don't remember me... I wrote to you a year or so ago regarding the recycling of Squash balls. I forwarded my email to Dunlop who to my surprise replied! saying 'we will look into it'...
Not to my surprise a year on, I have not heard of Squash ball recycling!
It's mind blowing to think all these used Squash balls just get thrown in the rubbish! Our club alone gets through 300 balls a month!
It would be interesting to find out how many Squash balls Dunlop produce per year..5 million?...makes you think!
Can we put it out to the Squash Community & get some ideas?" |

A LITTLE CATCHING UP WITH THE INDIAN PLAYERS...
Right after the Asians Games, only a few weeks after the Commonwealth Games, let's read a long article in Hindu.com. "“This was my first visit to China. The set-up was mind-blowing and showed us just why the country is where it is in the world hierarchy today", says Saurav...

To be honest, I didn't expect to make a second edition that quickly, but then again, it is a busy time, with the World Teams in New Zealand for the Ladies, Saskatoon, the Asians Games, and the Players' life we hear about in the different sites all over the world...... Not to mention Mr Squash Press that does his bit for Movember...
Like I said, a busy time.... | Women's World Team Revue de Presse...
Well, Revue de Presse, Press Review, I'm sure you got it.... You see, your French is getting better by the second.

James' Blog....
They are a few writers I never fail to read whenever I get my screen on one of their articles.
And James Willstrop's column in the YEP, as in Yorkshire Evening Post, is definitely one I always look forward to.
I strongly advise all to read James' prose. It's always extremely well written, the subject vary immensely, and like his Dad, he is not afraid to call a cat a cat, as we say in French, you guys in English talk about spade I believe??
I'll put James' articles in this column regularly, of course... But this one, where he talks so warmly from his "living companion" as he calls Vanessa, is one of his best in my books...
And if you miss it in the YEP, you can always catch up on his FaceBook page....

When Robin Refs the Final...
According to the Star Phoenix from Saskatoon, poor Canadian Robin Clarke had the great privilege to ref the final of the $10,000 event yesterday between Laurence Delasaux and Jorge Baltazar.
"Apparently, the players also engaged in good-natured banter to the laughter of the audience. In his acceptance speech, a grinning Delasaux apologized to Clarke "for screaming and shouting at you," which also garnered chuckles.
"We couldn't give any more in there today," said Delasaux. "We left it all on the floor. All the training and hard work we do just culminated today."

Miles for Moms...
In 2002, Chris Hanson’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that Chris’s grandmother had also suffered and defeated.
For Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Chris was determined to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“I had gotten into running over the summer,” Chris explained, “and I enjoy it a lot, so I thought I could use that to fundraise.”
Chris got the idea to run as far as he could cumulatively during the month of October, and decided to invite his friends and teammates to sponsor him per/mile in order to raise money. Chris’ roommate Dave came up with a fitting name for his initiative:
...Miles For Moms.

Farewell for Azlan???
Well, that's an article I would like very much the Malaysian to comment for us.
What do they mean, "it was his last Asian Games"????
Surely, at only 28, Azlan can still play at least, at least one more Asian Games...

Howard is "Movembering" as well...
It's been a very hairy month apparently in the world of Squash...
After Tim Garner's unforgettable moustache yesterday, Howard Harding, PSA, WISPA, WSF Press Officer among others, informed me that his Movember campaign could do with a boost!!
"I could send you a picture if you really insist" he said.
Oh yes I replied... And not disappointed I was.

A BIT OF MADNESS IN THIS WORLD OF SQUASH.... Well, difficult for me to keep quiet... It's just, you know, when you come across an funny or interesting info, and you would like to share it with people.
That column is exactly that. No theme in particular. I would like it to be interactive, with your ideas, thoughts, shouts, etc. You know my email, gommendy@aol.com.
Press articles, notes from the players, promoters, funny photos... Let's see where the World of Squash takes us, shall we??? | |
Nicol David - My Qatar...
 | Nicol David in Qatar.... One of the great pleasures of being on a tournament is the ability to go from table to table at breakfast, the best moment in my mind to chat with the players.
And boy in Qatar, did I do a few breakfasts with Nicol and Liz Irving, her coach, with the addition of her trainer, Ronald! We had great fun, well, I had anyway, not sure about them, they are far too well educated to say otherwise...
Nicol wrote an very detailed blog on SquashStars on her tournament in Qatar. I personally enjoyed reading her side of the event, how she feels each and every match. |
Moustaching away...
Along the way, I've always seen Tim Garner, promoter and member of the Head of WISPA for a few months now, doing some weird things for charity. I can remember him cycling away, walking mad distances, etc.
Well, this time, it was maybe not that hard physically, but boy, it wasn't a walk in the park either!
Come on, admit it, Tim is not exactly a moustache guy, is he. But what we wouldn't do for charity, hey?
Please, be kind and generous to the protate cancer charity event Movember....
He bleeping deserves it... |

| Nick in Pink??
Bless a new campaign for I'm not exactly sure what, we have the chance to see Nick Matthew and Daryl Selby in pink and yellow/green fluorescent outfits.
"How cool are we??!" asked Nick on his tweet? "Erm honestly??!" retorted Adrian Grant...
Only to have Gilly Lane having the last word : " I think you boys should play in that kit during the WO...would blow peoples minds"...
My tweet? "No Comment". And I'll stick to it... |
