Big Dutch contribution
during Rotterdam Open
Seven Dutch men and seven Dutch women are admitted to the
qualifying rounds for the Rotterdam Open Squash 2014, which
takes place from August 28 to 31 at Victoria Squash Rotterdam,
bringing the number of home players in this, the only
professional squash tournament in the Netherlands, to seventeen.
In the men's draw Bart Ravelli (PSA-230), Marc ter
Sluis (PSA-270), Ren้ Mijs, Rick Penders,
Stephen Cooke, Fubara Bestman and Joris Wagenaar
will compete in qualifying on behalf of the Netherlands.
Two
victories are needed to get through to the main tournament, in
which the second-seeded Sebastian Weenink (PSA-90) and
wildcard Roshan Bharos (PSA-352) have already been
admitted.
In the women's tournament Tessa ter Sluis (WSA-205),
Margriet Huisman, Dagmar Vermeulen, Danielle
Rossmeissl, Judith Diepeveen, Sharona Teeling
and Nikki van der Heijden participate in the qualifying
tournament.
Like the men, the national top players have to win two times in
qualifying to get through to the main round of the Rotterdam
Open.
The
Dutch youth champion Sanne Veldkamp was granted the wild
card spot in the main draw the local organisation.
The main draws of the Dutch PSA and WSA World Tour event will be
led by the thirty-two-year-old Irishwoman Aisling Blake
(WSA-33) and ten years younger Frenchman Lucas Serme (PSA
67).
For both men and women there is five thousand dollars prize
money available.
