01-Mar, Semis:
Top seeds to contest Des Pyramides final ...
The top two seeds will contest the final of the Women's Des
Pyramides Open after favourite Isabelle Stoehr and second seed
Jaclyn Hawkes overcame their semi-final opponents in Le Port Marly,
France.
In a battle between two recently-crowned national champions, it was
Stoehr - the French title-holder - who prevailed, beating Dutch star
Annelize Naude, the third seed, in 49 minutes.
Stoehr, the 28-year-old world No19 from Montpellier, is celebrating
her 13th appearance in a Tour final - and her sixth on home soil.
Hawkes, a UK-based New Zealander from Auckland, despatched England's
fourth seed Dominique Lloyd-Walter in 41 minutes to earn her seventh
WISPA final appearance.
In only her second Tour meeting with Naude, Hawkes will be keen to
claim her first win - and endorse the rise above her Dutch opponent
in the February world rankings to 18. |

29-Feb, Quarters:
Seeds
safely through in
Le Port Marly ...
The top four seeds safely survived their quarter-final encounters in
the Women's Des Pyramides Open - but only favourite Isabelle Stoehr
had a straightforward victory at Club des Pyramides in Le Port Marly,
France.
The reigning French national champion took only 21 minutes to
despatch sixth-seeded Malaysian Tricia Chuah, and will now face the
new Dutch champion Annelize Naude, the No3 seed who needed four
games to overcome Ireland's Laura Mylotte.
Italian Manuela Manetta forced the longest match of the day. The
fifth seed extended Dominique Lloyd-Walter for 56 minutes before the
fourth seed from England finally prevailed.
Lloyd-Walter now meets Jaclyn Hawkes for a place in the final. The
second seed from New Zealand beat England's No7 seed Laura Hill.
28-Feb, Round One:
Stoehr Storms to opening Pyramides win ...
Title-holder Isabelle Stoehr took just 12 minutes to begin the
defence of her title in the Women's Des Pyramides Open, beating
French compatriot Celia Allamargot in the first round.
Stoehr, who earlier this month won the French national title for a
record 11th time, despatched qualifier Allamargot 27/0 and will now
face sixth-seeded Malaysian Tricia Chuah for a place in the
semi-finals.
Ireland's Laura Mylotte was taken the full distance by rising Indian
star Dipika Pallikal. Twice the 16-year-old from Chennai fought back
to draw level in the match before Mylotte, the eighth seed from
Galway, finally clinched her victory in 57 minutes.
But England's Dominique Lloyd-Walter prevailed in the longest
encounter, the fourth seed taking 73 minutes to overcome unseeded
French opponent Camille Serme. |
