"In
Paderborn we will have a very committed, determined and focused
bunch of players who want to be successful.
"There are going to be disappointments in careers and I can
imagine for the players in 2009 they will be looking to make
amends.
"If you have a team seeded one, such as England, then the aim is
to achieve that and raise the expectation levels. So we are so
up for this.
"It's a real opportunity as they are rightly favourites, and
there's no reason why they can't get on the podium.
"With this group of world-class players it's about challenging
themselves and offering them a different perspective after so
many successful years under David Pearson.
"Obviously I want things done in a certain way and a respect to
the game, but it's about building relationships at this point
and proving I can do the job.
"From my point of view, the game has moved on. It's fast-paced
and dynamic and as coaches you can't stay in the same bubble.
"There are many more exchanges now, lots of action to the front
of the wall and rallies are shorter. It's about staying in front
of the competition and that's our aim in Germany.
"Winning is the main priority and anything less than that will
be a disappointment for all concerned. But that's where you set
the stall at, considering England have had very strong teams
over the years."
