11-5, 12-10, 11-6 (51m)
Mega title for Ross
It was an all-English final in
Brescia, with second seed Stacey Ross up against defending champion Scott
Handley, and it was Ross who came out on top, to claim his first PSA
title.
The start of the match saw both players playing safety-first squashy, not
wanting to make errors, with Ross winning the attritional battle to take
the game 11-5.
The second game saw a change of pace, with both players now going for
winners. The score was close throughout, with Ross taking the game on a
tie-break to go 2-0 up.
Handley tired in the third, allowing Ross to establish a lead which he
never relinquished as he went on to become the 9th Mega Italia Champion.

28-Apr, Quarters:
Bianchetti faces English
Challenge in Brescia
If local favourite and top seed
Davide Bianchetti is to claim his first Mega Italia title in Brecsia,
he will have to overcome two Englishmen to do it.
Bianchetti scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Pakistan's tennage sensation
Khalid Atlas Khan to reach the semis, where he will meet defending
champion Scott Handley. Handley also enjoyed a straight games
victory over a junior, the USA's Chris Gordon.
The other semi-final will feature second seed Stacey Ross, who
disappointed the local crowd by ending the run of Luca Mastrostefano in
four games. Ross's opponent will be Daryl Selby, who overcame
Zimbabwe's Jesse Engelbrect 3-2 in an unusual-looking
7-11, 11-0, 11-0, 5-11, 11-10(2-0)
scoreline in 59 minutes.

as seeds tumble in Brescia ...
Top seed and local favourite
Davide Bianchetti moved easily into the quarter-finals as he
started his bid to go one
better than his final appearances in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
Bianchetti beat French qualifier Romain Tenant in straight games and now
meets Pakistan's teenage sensation Amir Atlas Khan, the Asian
junior champion who beat England's seventh-seeded Sam Miller.
Defending champion Scott Handley enjoyed an easy passage into the
quarter-finals when France's Alexandre Muller retired injured in the
second game. Handley meets another junior, the USA's Chris Gordon.
Only one seed
survived in the bottom half of the draw as local wildcard Luca
Mastrostefano delighted the Brescia crowd with a 3-2 win over Canada's
fifth seed Ian Power - taking the final game on a thrilling tie-break.
Luca now meets England's second seed Stacey Ross, who eased past
Malaysian Tim Arnold in straight games.
Two further upsets saw the demise of the fourth and sixth seeds, as
Daryl Selby ended French interest with a 3/0 win over Julien Balbo,
and Zimbabwe's Jesse Engelbrect upset Andrew Whipp in four games.
Bianchetti looks for
one better in Mega
The ninth running of the Mega Italia Open in Brescia sees local favourite
Davide Bianchetti as top seed for the $6k event.
Bianchetti, competing in his seventh Mega Italia, will be hoping to go one
better than his final appearances in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
There is a strong English contingent, with Stacey Ross seeded two
and defending champion Scott Handley at three.
