  TODAY at the CASA Juniors

Wed 16th, Day FOUR

The atmosphere today has been electric as expected from a Junior CASA team tournament. Guyana, Jamaica, and Barbados lead the charge going undefeated so far in the group stages for both boys and girls.

The Bermuda boys’ team had two narrow defeats in the hands of Guyana and T&T both matches going 3-2 despite the noise of the home crowd to cheer them on. There wasn’t much change for the Bermuda girls team sadly as they lost to Guyana 4-1.

Cayman Islands showed a lot of heart in their matches today but unfortunately lacked a bit experience in the end to take them through, as well as OECS who have only 3 players making up their team. With three teams going into the next day undefeated it’s expected to be a fiery day of matches to look forward to. Good luck to all the teams for the next round.

The team event portion of Junior CASA 2014 kicked off this morning, starting with the boys group stages.

Barbados got off to a great start in their match up against the Cayman Islands winning their first three matches in the BU13, BU15, and BU19 age groups. Despite Cayman Islands fighting back to win the following two matches making a 3-2 score line for the winners Barbados.

On the opposing court Jamaica started their campaign with a 3-2 match victory over OECS. Because OECS only had three players on their team all Jamaica needed to do was win one of them. Jake Mahfood stepping up to the task winning his BU19 match 3-0.

Lastly Bermuda took on Guyana in front of a noisy home crowd to watch Guyana narrowly defeat the host 3-2. Dylan Muldoon vs Ben Mekdeci was the deciding match, Ben Mekdeci from Guyana eventually winning it in a tight 3-1 battle.
