Fajr International 2006
Kish Free Zone, Iran, 06-10 Mar, $6k

10-Mar-06:
Fajr title for Omar ...

Final:
[2] Omar Mosaad bt
Ahmed Gamal Swaify
      9/11, 11/10(2-0), 11/2, 11/4 (43m)

In a battle between two Egyptian teenagers in the final of the FAJR Squash International on Kish Island, it was the younger player Omar Mosaad who triumphed to claim the first ever PSA Tour title in Iran.

Mosaad, the 17-year-old second seed from Cairo, recovered from a game down to beat unseeded 19-year-old Ahmed Gamal Swaify in 43 minutes.

Swaify, also from Cairo and in only his second appearance in a PSA event, had reached his first final after beating four seeds in the event – including Hong Kong's top seed Wai Hang Wong in the quarter-finals.

Mosaad, a two-times British Junior U17 Open champion who is coached by former Australian international Anthony Hill, is celebrating his first PSA Tour title.

09-Mar-06:
Swaify stuns top
seed in Iran

Egypt's Ahmed Swaify, the sixteenth seed, caused a major upset in the quarter-finals of the Fajr International in Iran's Kish Feee Zone when he beat Hong Kong's top seeded Wai Hang Wong in straight games to move into the semi-finals.

Swaify meets Malaysia's fourth seed Timothy Arnold, while the other semi-final will be an all-Egyptian affair between Amr Ramzy Swelim and second seed Omar Mosaad.

"In the first game I played badly...I had many errors...In the second one, I could come back and take control of the game, and won it.

"So I began to play well, and I could win the next two games, but I could find my good shots in the 4th...it was quite a good match..."
