Dutch Double for Rixax
Almere
Rixax Almere made it a double celebration when their men's team
prevailed in a nail-biting final against Fortis Utrecht to add the
title to the women's crown claimed earlier in the day.
Dylan Bennett got the Almere outfit off to a flying start with a 3/0
win over Glenn Keenan, and when Gregory Gaultier followed it up with
a similar scoreline against compatriot Renan Lavigne the odds were
heavily in Almere's favour.
John White went on knowing that a single game would be enough, but
David Palmer opened the match up as he beat White 3/0 in the top
string.
Bradley Ball then found himself playing his second deciding match in
two days, having scored an upset win over Azlan Iskander in the
semi-finals to stun the home fans. Although the Englishman recorded
another victory againsst the odds, this time over Almere's Davide
Bianchetti, the Italian knew that 15 points would be enough to
secure the title, and the mark was reached in the second game.
Ball went on to win 3/0 but the Almere celebrations had already
started ...
Women's Final:
RIXAX/Almere bt All-In Victoria 4-0
Natalie Grinham bt Jenny Duncalf 9/5,
2/9, 9/3, 9/3
Vicky Botwright bt Sharon Wee

Margriet Huisman bt Milja Dorenbos 9/6, 9/3, 9/2
Debut title for Almere
Rixax Almere, making their first appearance in the play-off final,
claimed the title with a 4-0 win over home team All-In-Solo
Victoria.
Margriet Huisman set Almere on course to victory with a 3/0 win over
Milja Dorenbos, and when Vicky Botwright doubled the lead against
Sharon Wee, Victoria were left needing to win the last two ties 3/0
to force countback.
When Natalie Grinham took the first game against Jenny Duncalf the
title was Almere's, as Grinham went on to win 3/1 and Latasha Khan
wrapped up the victory with a 2/1 win over Karen Kronemeyer.
