Willstrop Withdraws
James
Willstrop has withdrawn from the Forexx Dutch Open Squash
2008, which will take place September 2-7 in the renowned Frans
Otten Stadion in Amsterdam.
The 24-year old Englishman rolled his ankle during practice
about a week ago and was forced to pull out from mainland
Europe’s biggest suuash event after test results showed he made
insufficient progress in his recovery.
Due to the withdrewal of the world’s number three, Willstrop’s
compatriot Nick Matthew has been elevated to top seed.
Dutch ace Laurens Jan Anjema is now seeded second in the
PSA 3 star championship in his home country.

Day ZER0
Steve Cubbins on the way to Amsterdam
One
day to go before the effective start of the European season,
which promises to get off in an entertaining way with the second
Forexx Dutch Open.
All of the world's best women and a strong men's field will be
vying for the Dutch Open titles over the next week, and with
Tommy Berden and the Next Events team lining up plenty of
side events and entertainments, the Frans Otten Stadion
will be buzzing over the next few days.
Will Nicol David retain her title, or will world champion
Rachael Grinham go one better than last year? Will
Natalie Grinham, competing under Dutch colours in Amsterdam
for the first time, be fired up to claim that number two spot
back from big sis? Will Natalie Grainger power her way
through the draw as only she can, or will it be the turn of one
of a strong English contingent?
In
the men's event how will Nick Matthew's shoulder hold up
in his first competitive outing for seven months? Can former
Amsterdam favourite John White recapture the magic he
showed here a few years back? Can LJ Anjema come through
a tough draw to make the final again, or will James Willstrop
continue his winning ways to spoil the Dutch party?
We'll know the answers soon enough, and we're pretty sure it
will be great fun finding out ...
