Abbas Takes COAS
Crown
Mohammed Abbas overcame Ramy Ashour to capture the title in
the fourth COAS International at the Mushaf squash complex
in Islamabad.
Second seed Abbas took control of the match right from the
beginning and displayed some excellent forehand and backhand
drives in the first game that finished 11-4. There was a
close contest between the two Egyptians in the second game,
as it was level at 5-5 and went neck to neck till 9-8. World
Junior Champion Ashour won it 11-9 thus equalising the
match.
Ashour toiled hard to recover an 8-1 deficit in the 3rd
game, but failed to catch Abbas, who eventually won the game
11-7. The fourth game was level at 3-3 but Ramy errors
handed the advantage to Abbas as he took the game 11-5 to
win the title - the second of his career after taking his
first back in early 2000.
