11-5, 11-5, 11-7 (41m)
Ritwik Romps to
Chennai Title
India's
top-ranked player Ritwik Bhattacharya finally ended the run of
compatriot Siddarth Suchde as he claimed the title with a straight
games win at the India Cement courts in Chennai.
Siddharth didn't look like he had recovered from hour-plus matches in the
previous two days. Ritwik took advantage of the situation and had Sid
running all over the court from the very first point.
Ritwik looked like a man possessed, there to accomplish a mission and he
did it in style, claiming his fifth PSA title and maintaining his 100%
record in finals.
"I knew he liked to rally. I decided on pushing him back and test him in
the front court,'' Ritwik told The Hindu on his successful ploy.
Suchde admitted, "the two earlier prolonged matches of mine left me very
tired and I could not get going.''

Well
it's great to win a Super Satellite event finally! Been working
hard and am now setting my sights on winning a 1 star event.
I absolutely love playing at home in India. The ICL complex and
the 4 wall court here in Chennai is amazing.
Indian squash is on a high and the level of juniors in the country
is of a very high standard. But most importantly the 5-6 Junior
PSA members who just joined the PSA tour held their own in the
tournament against the foreign players which was a first for
Indian squash.
Looking foward to a short break and then some hard summer training
now!!!!
Cheers
Ritwik Bhattacharya |
