Bogota Hat-trick for Barker

England's Peter Barker captured his third successive title at the Club El Nogal in Bogota, beating Spain's third seeded Borja Golan in straight games in the final.

Golan started out at a fast pace, taking the lead in each of the first two games, but Barker managed to impose his slower style onto the match, saving four game balls before taking the first, and overcoming a deficit in the second to take a 2/0 lead.

Barker took control from the start of the third, and although Golan pulled a few points back towards the end it was too late and the Englishman was soon collecting his third Club El Nogal trophy.

Borja ends South American hopes in Bogota ... Barker aims for three

Spain's Borja Golan ended the run of Brazil's Rafael Alarcon in the semi-final at the Club El Nogal, and will meet second seed Peter Barker, who prevailed in the all-English semi-final.

Golan utilised his speed around court to nullify Alarcon's attacks, forcing the Brazilian to go for tighter and tighter shots which inevitable meant errors. Borja's grip loosened only in the third game, allowing Rafael to level at 10-all, but the Spaniard held his nerve to close out the game and the match.

Barker and Joey Barrington played out an attritional match featuring many long rallies, but second seed Barker maintained control for the most part of the match. Joey led briefly in the third game, but couldn't hold on to the lead as Peter moved into another South American final, having won the equivalent tournament for the last two seasons at the same venue.

23-Aug, Round One:
Rosner outlasts Delierre in Bogota

Seven of the eight seeds progressed to the quarter-finals at the Club El Nogal in Bogota, with Germany's Simon Rosner creating the only upset of the day in beating sixth seed Shawn DeLierre in five games.

There were mixed fortunes for the home fans, as Miguel Angel Rodriguez took the opportunity to avenge his Pan American Games defeat by the USA's Julian Illingworth, while Bernardo Samper found the going too tough against top seed Adrian Grant.

It was a bad day for the USA, with qualifiers Chris Simpson and Ryan Donegan also failing to progress, beaten by Eric Galvez and Joey Barrington, respectively.

Colombian Circuit - take one

The first of two back to back events in Colombia, Bogota's Club El Nogal hosts some of the world's best this weekend.

English players feature heavily in the draw, with Adrian Grant and Peter Barker the top seeds, with Joey Barrington at four. Spain's Borja Golan is third seed, with Colombia's Miguel Angel Rodriguez and Brazilian Rafael Alarcon leading the South American challenge, seeded seven and eight.

Two rounds of qualifying on day one saw four Argentineans come through to today's finals, the major casualty being France's Yann Perrin who lost out in five games to Robertino Pezzota, who went on to qualify, earning a match against Golan.

Also through were the USA's Chris Gordon and Ryan Donegan, and Australian Scott Arnold.
