Teams Day TWO
More team matches today in
the Men's, Women's and Vets events - it was definitely a good
day for Barbados, and while we know some of the
semi-finalists the final lineups are still to be decided.
Morning matches
In
the morning's women's matches there were wins for Barbados and
Jamaica. Top seeds Barbados beat T&T, although
both will likely qualify for the semis. In the same group
Jamaica beat OECS 4-1.
Barbados and T&T also met in the men's pools, with T&T
going two-nil up, only to be pegged back by wins for Gavin
Cumberbatch and Shawn Simpson. In the decider it was Trinidad
all the way though as Mandela Patrick brought home the win for
T&T.
The vets matches saw wins for T&T and OECS.
Afternoon
matches
Just two afternoon matches with T&T ladies beating OECS
4-1, Daniela Schumann once again the solitary OECS winner, while
Barbados Vets dented Cayman's hopes with a hard fought
5-0 win that keeps them on course for a fifth straight Veterans
title.
Evening Matches
Just one Vets match tonight, T&T
keeping up their bid for the title (they've now won three out of
four) with a 4-1 win over still winless Guyana.
Women's
title holders Guyana opened their campaign with an impressive
5-0 win over Cayman, and if they beat Bermuda tomorrow they will
top the group, with Cayman also advancing to the semis.
Barbados ladies secured their place in the semis with a 5-0 win
over Jamaica making it three out of three and a likely
semi-final against Cayman.
Cayman's
men went down to a third successive 2-3 defeat, this time at the
hands of T&T.
In the same group Barbados beat OECS 3-2, so tomorrow's meeting
between T&T and OECS will decide the group positions.
Jamaica booked their semi-final place, beating Bermuda to top
the group, with tomorrow's Guyana v Bermuda match set to decide
the other semi-finalists.
