Reda & Hansen collect again in
KL
It's been a productive time in Malaysia for Ali Anwar Reda and
Line Hansen, they've collected five titles between them in a
fortnight!
Egyptian
Reda collected his third consecutive title as he overcame
top-seeded Dylan Bennett in straight games at the National
Squash Centre in Bukit Jalal.
Hansen, fresh from leading Denmark top a best-ever third finish
in the European Team Championships in Italy, also beat the top
seed in the final against
local favourite Sharon Wee.
Sharon had a dream start when she took the first game in only
seven minutes without conceding a point but Line recovered
strongly to take the next two games.
The Malaysian then changed tactics by hitting it short to the
front in an attempt to dictate the pace. Line, the No 2 seed,
was also made to back-track on numerous occasion when Sharon
retrieved the Dane's short strokes by sending the ball to the
back court.
The tactic paid dividends until mid-way through the fifth game
with Sharon leading 5-2, but a succession of errors gave Line a
lifeline and a 6-5 lead. After two changes of serve, Line fired
home the two points she needed to bag the title.
The pair won the Satellite #2
titles just two weeks ago - that was Hansen's first WISPA title
- with Reda also taking the Satellite #3 crown last weekend.
The series continues in June with the Super Satellite #2 and
Satellite #4 tournaments, then resumes in September. |

"I'm very happy to
have won. It's the first time I've beaten a top-20 player. It
was the best match I've played yet. I don't think Sharon played
well but I played the right shots."

Top seeds
make
Super Satellite finals
The top two seeds will contest both the men's and women's finals
in the NSC Squash Super Satellite No1 after prevailing in
semi-finals at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil.
Egypt's No2 seed Mohd Ali Anwar Reda secured his third
successive final berth in KL this month after overcoming local
player Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan, the fifth seed, in an 84-minute
marathon.
His opponent Dylan Bennett had a much easier run through to the
seventh PSA Tour final of his career. The favourite from
Eindhoven beat his third-seeded Netherlands compatriot Tom
Hoevenaars in just 37 minutes.
There were contrasting semi-finals in the women's semi-finals:
top seed Sharon Wee was taken the full distance by fellow
Malaysian Delia Arnold before beating the fourth seed in 58
minutes, while Denmark's No2 seed Line Hansen Denmark's was able
to despatch the third seed Margriet Huisman from the Netherlands
in four games to reach the fifth title of her career.
|
"It
was tough work but I was not surprised given how she had been
playing lately. She won her last tournament and obviously her
confidence was high.
"When I led 2-0, I should have won it in three games but I was not
disciplined enough. She is strong in the front court, hitting low
and hard and I got caught a few times."
"I am taking it one match at a time. Today was a wake up call and
I just need to play my own game. I beat Line the last time we met
but on this tour, no match is easy."

another local player Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan in a repeat of the NSC

The other men's semi-final will be an all-Dutch affair between
top seed Dylan Bennett and third seed Tom Hoevenaars.
The women's quarter-finals went according to the seedings - with
fourth seed Delia Arnold setting up an all-Malaysian semi-final
against favourite Sharon Wee after despatching Japan's Mami
