Annie Au

17-May, Semis:
Au's run continues into KL final

Mohd Ali Anwar Reda18-year-old Annie Au, the Asian Junior champion, continued her fine run in Kuala Lumpur as she defeated Margriet Huisman, the second seed from the Netherlands, in the semi-finals. Au now meets top seed Line Hansen after the Dane ended home interest in the women's event with a straight games win over Delia Arnold.

There will be a home player in the men's final though, as second seed
Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan squeezed home in a five-game thriller over James Snell. The hoped-for all-Malaysian final is not to be however - Egypt's top-seeded Ali Anwar Reda beat the younger Adnan brother in straight games.
Adnan brothers on course
for Kuala Lumpur final

Malaysian brothers Nafzahizam Adnan and Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan are on course to meet in the second PSA final in their home town in a month after surviving thequarter-finals of the NSC Satellite No2 at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.

Second seed Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan, the younger of the pair and winner of the April clash, took just 24 minutes to beat Egyptian qualifier Karim AGA Samy, and will now face England's sixth seed James Snell for a place in the final.

Nafzahizam, the 22-year-old third seed, battled through three tie-break games before overcoming compatriot qualifier Elvinn Keo in 53 minutes. His semi-final opponent will be Egypt's top seed Mohd Ali Anwar Reda.

Hong Kong's fifth seed Annie Au produced the only upset in the women's event when she beat Malaysia's Lim Yoke Wah, the fourth seed, in 43 minutes.

The 18-year-old Asian Junior champion will now take on Margriet Huisman, the second seed from the Netherlands who defeated local player Nessrine Ariffin.

Malaysians thrive in NSC round one

Local players scored notable upsets in the first round of the NSC Squash Satellite No2 at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifier Muhd Asyraf Azan, aged 18, claimed the biggest scalp when he beat England's No4 seed Neil Hitchens 3/2. Fellow Malaysian qualifier Elvinn Keo also removed a seed, defeating Spain's No5 seed David Vidal.

The youngest triumph was achieved in the women's event where 15-year-old Nessrine Ariffin beat Sweden's No8 seed Josefa Bertilsson. The unseeded teenager will now face second seed Margriet Huisman.
