Alfredo Avila from Mexico defeated August Dussour to claim his
first Paraguay Open.
Both players started trying to impose their pace, been Dussourds
pace a little faster. In the first game an accidental crash gave
the French few minutes to recover. And it was indeed Dussourd
who took the first game.
After that, mistakes from his raquet convined with a strong
consistency from Avila was the key factor. After that it was all
Avila with mid pace and counter attacking specially on the left
front corner.

France's
Auguste Dussourd started really agressive, winning his first
three points against top seed Olli Tuominen with cross court
nick shots. Better length, specially on the back hand side.
The third saw better depth from Tuominen but in the fourth,
despite been well disputed it was Dussourd that played well
enough to secure his final at his very first appereance in
Paraguay.
“I came here not playing very well so I told my self to go and
attack from the start, I needed to get my confidence back and it
worked”
Robertino
Pezzota and Alfredo Avila had played twice before with two wins
to Pezzota. A player that likes to impose his presence in the
middle of the court, Avila having to run extra meters arouns the
court.
So he did, defending very well all around and attacking both
with very acurate boast and straight tight volleys. Also a
player looking for a confidence boost, looking for his first
“guampa”.
