Courtice Claims Northern crown
 In
the final of the Denton Associates Northern Open, local
favourite and top seed Julianne Courtice, world no 50, took on
world no. 65 Rachael Chadwick, the second seed.
In a tight first game, both players took a while to find their
range with Courtice clinching it 11-8. Julianne went on to take
the second game hitting some cross court nicks with her drops.
Chadwick came out strong and dominated the third game, forcing
some errors from Courtice and taking it 11-3.
With the home crowd behind her Julianne came back strong and
raced ahead to a 6 point lead in the fourth . She closed the
game, completing a strong performance and claiming the
Championship 11-6. |
