29-Jan, Semis:
Cuskelly and Farag through to final
Ryan Cuskelly and Ali Farag
will contest the Motor City Open final after both
semi-finals went with the seedings.
Cuskelly came from a game down to beat Steve Coppinger while
Farag came from one-two down to beat Diego Elias.
28-Jan, Quarters:
Seeds continue to tumble
Two more top seeds departed in the
quarters in Detroit as Diego Elias beat second seed
Marwan Elshorbagy in five games and Ryan Cuskelly
despatched fourth seed Omar Mosaad in straight games.
Elias faces more Egyptian opposition in Ali Farag, who
beat Miguel Rodriguez in three, and Cuskelly meets Steve
Coppinger, who ended the run of Cesar Salazar.
27-Jan, Round One:
Top seed stunned in Motor City shocker
Mexico's Cesar Salazar pulled off the
biggest upset of the year so far as he beat World #1 Mohamed Elshorbagy in an hour's play in Detroit. Cesar
had match ball against the world number one in last year's U.S.
Open, but this tine he made it count.
He'll face Steve Coppinger, who came from two games down to upset
Borja Golan, for a place in the quarters.
Elsewhere all the remaining seeds made it through.
26-Jan, Qualifying Finals:
End of the road for home players
There was no joy for the three Americans in the qualifying
finals in Detroit as second to fifth qualifying seeds Abdulla
Al Tamimi, Campbell Grayson, Raphael Kandra and Ivan Yuen
asserted themselves to reach the main draw.
25-Jan, Qualifying Round One:
Three Americans advance in Detroit
The 2017 edition of the Motor City Open got under way with three
home players advancing to the qualifying finals, all against the
odds - Chris Gordon upset top qualifying seed Omar Abdel
Meguid in straight games, Todd Harrity was a game and a
half up against Olli Tuominen when the Finn retired injured, and
Chris Hanson got the better of a five-game battle with
Farhan Zaman.
They will all need to produce a further upset in the qualifying
finals to provide home interest in the main draw.
