14-May,
Semis:
Elshorbagy and Abouelghar set up
all-Egyptian final
The final of the Houston Open will be an all-Egyptian affair
after hard-fought semi-final wins from Marwan Elshorbagy and
Mohamed Abouelghar.Today on the fifth day of the 2016
Houston open, the atmosphere was electric as we were well under
way on the amateur tournament with quarter finals and everyone
was anxiously anticipating the pro semifinals.
The semifinals did not disappoint with a nail biting 3-2 battle
against the two Egyptians, Marwan ElShorbagy and Mazen Hesham.
Hesham was here in Houston for the third year to defend his
unbeaten record. With a 11-9 finish in the fifth game, both
Egyptians were fighting to the end with some incredibly fast
paced and intense rallies.
The second semifinal proved to be as intense with Abouleghar
dominating Ryan Cuskelly in the first two games as Auskelly
fought back in the third. But it seems that an Egyptian final
was meant to be as Abouleghar finished off the match in the
fourth, ending 3-1.
