Life Time Chicago Open 2016
18-23 Oct, Chicago, Usa, $15k |

23-Oct, Final:
Grayson comeback claims title in
ChicagoCampbell Grayson won his first Life
Time Chicago Open - his 11th career PSA title - in a five set
thriller as he came from two games down to beat top seed Greg
Lobban.
After being on court three hours more than Lobban for the event
the odds were not good. After a gruelling five setter with
Henrik Mustonen lasting 1h 40 min and a semi final five setter
with Rafael Kandra which also went the full distance he started
the match not as sharp as the previous matches.
Greg won the first two games 11/5 and 11/6 and the third was
very close as Campbell dug in deep for every point. At 9-all
Lobban ran for a ball and landed awkwardly on his knee and had
to take a 3 minute injury break.
Campbell went on to win the game 11-9 and maintained his
composure to win the fourth 11-7.
In the fifth Camp raced to a 7-3 lead and one could see Lobban
was unable to lunge and move as quick as he was in the first two
and a half games. Campbell closed out the match 11-4 and was
still in disbelief that he won.
He will go to Cairo with great confidence. For Greg he will have
to make the decision if he will go to Cairo as he was in serious
pain after the match.
Tour Director Andre Maur said the quality of squash played on
the weekend was amazing and world class. Congrats to Campbell on
a fantastic tournament and winning the 2016 Life Time Chicago
Open. A special thanks to Tournament Director Franz Schwerer on
putting a brilliant tournament together. |
