22-Apr, Round One:
Our opening four matches were all one sided affairs, with only
the Lee - Saffery match well contested by the loser (Saffery).
With both quarter-final and semi-final matches being played
tomorrow all four winners will be pleased to move into Saturday
with fresh legs.
Egyption junior Rowan Elaraby will be looking to make it through
to the final after last weekends win in Richmond - but she will
have to battle through against the contingent from Hong Kong, as
all three won tonight and are the other three quarter-finalists
in Elaraby's half of the draw.
Our last match of the evening, Soini -Garcia, was the only close
one, with the third game going all the way to 14/12. There were
plenty of tough calls for the referee to make throughout the
match as neither player was clearing particular well from the
front, but Soini ended up on top taking it 11/9 in the 4th, for
a 3-1 win in just under an hour.
