Top seed Liu Tsz-Ling came from a game
down to beat young Egyptian Amina Yousry in the final in Rawalpindi,
claiming her 10th PSA title.

 Hopes
of a repeat home champion were dashed as 15-year-old Egtpyian
Amina Yousry came from a game down to beat defending champion
and home favourite Maria Toorpakay in a four-game semi-final.
"I feel over the moon," said Amina. "Maria
is a very tough player especially in front of her home crowd. It was
very difficult to beat her.
"Last year in the 2nd Bahria Town Tournament was my first Senior PSA
Event. I did qualify for first time for a 15K US-Dollar Tournament &
I am very excited.
"I congratulate the organizers for such a wonderful event. Thanks to
the Pakistani Supporters my parents and my coaches."
Maria reflected:
"I am very disappointed, people had very high expectation from me.
It was good match, loss and win part of game.
 "I
have to learn from my mistakes and I will overcome my short comings
for British open, I am said that I could not defend my title."
In the final Yousry will meet Liu Tsz-Ling,
the top seed who won her all-Hong Kong clash with Tong Tsz-Wing in
straight games.
This is first time I qualify for $15k PSA Tournament." said Liu,
"it's been a very good experience."

Maria still on course
Defending champion Maria Toorpakay
remains on course after beating Lee Ka Yi in the quarters-finals.
The home favourite now meets Amina Yousry, who beat
second-seeded fellow Egyptian Nadine Shahin .
Whoever wins that semi-final is sure to face a Hong Kong player in
the final after Liu Tsz-Ling and Tong Tsz-Wing won
their quarter-finals, all four matches finishing in straight games.
25-Feb, Round One:
Seeds through to quarters in Rawalpindi
All eight seeds made it through to the quarter-finals of the Bahria
Town International in Rawalpindi.
Local favourite and defending champion Maria Toorpakai is the
last remaining Pakistani, with three Egyptians, three Hong Kong and
one Malaysian making up the quarter-finalists.
 Top
seed Liu Tsz Ling, who beat Nada Abbas in straight games, was
impressed with the tournament and facilities:
"It's my second time coming to Pakistan in the Bahria Tournament,
arrangements are excellent for the event, food is very delicious and
rooms are very comfortable. The venue very well maintained and
available for practice, people are very friendly and loving, will
love to come back again ..."
 Second
seed Nadine Shahin echoed the sentiments of other Egyptian
players: "Everything is on time, accommodation and food quality
is good, people are so nice and the venue is well maintained. I
found Pakistan very Safe."
Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam was involved in the
closest match of the day, losing in five to Amina Yousry, but
was also impressed:
"My entire perception changed after visiting Pakistan, Pakistan is a
very safe and beautiful country, people are so loving & caring, food
is very delicious. Its been a great pleasure to be here."
Indonesian Qualifier Catur Yuliana summed it up:
"It's my first time in Pakistan. Very nice arrangements, squash
courts are excellent, food and accommodations are superb. I love
Pakistan!"

hoping to defend in Rawalpindi
Qualifying complete in Rawalpindi, it's on to the main draw which is
dominated by players from Hong Kong, Pakistan and Malaysia, the
exception being Indonesian qualifier Catur Yuliana.
Home hopes are on wildcard Sadia Gul, qualifiers Rushna Mehboob and
Sammer Anjum, but mainly with third seed and defending champion
Maria Toorpakay. |
