June 2015 |
We are delighted to inform you
that for a second year WorldEnjoyer will be hosting
an Adult Squash Camp in Lanzarote.
If
you love squash, this camp is perfect for you, helping you
improve both technique and tactics.
We are using the internationally recognised Club La Santa
in Lanzarote, being one of the biggest sports complexes in
Europe.
It boasts 7 squash courts (4 brand new from Court
tech), 10 tennis courts, 3 padel tennis courts,
golf facilities, football pitches, beach volleyball, sailing
and it's also the only venue in the world with 3 Olympic

We are delighted to announce we will be joined by Borja
Golan (former World no. 5), who along with an
international professional squash coach, will train with you
every morning.
Being
a unique squash holiday for all your family (even of they're
not squash players), the afternoons will provide time to
undertake excursions and visit the many unique places on
Lanzarote.

Talking to Borja Golan
First, where is it, and when?
The
camp will be in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands and the
people can choose any period between the 2nd to the 12th
June. The duration of the camp will be 5 days but could
be shorter or longer depending on the time people have and
possible flight availability.
Is it the first time you organise such a camp?
In the past I've organised similar camps for both juniors
and adults. I know WorldEnjoyer have also delivered similar
camps, these are operated by my friend and international
squash coach, Tino Casas.
We were chatting about this and decided to work together to
offer this squash holiday, bringing together the best we
both have to offer to make a unique holiday for squash
players.
We wanted a great venue and Club La Santa on Lanzarote is
the perfect place for sports people with its unique set up,
it provides a fantastic combination of holiday in a relaxed
but focused sports environment.
When you coach, what is your aim? Is it to help
players getting better generally, or do you have specific
targets/themes?
Depending of their level I like to offer different advice,
for example, if it's a beginner, the advice is about basic
technique but if the player is more experienced, they've
developed their own style and therefore need more specific
points unique to them.
What I try to do is make the training really dynamic to
maintain their attention and keep the motivation levels
high. The most important thing is that the players enjoy the
training, work hard and learn something, this way they will
improve.
Is
it something you would like to do more and more in a few
years?
For sure. It is what I most like and also where I have more
knowledge so I only need one more thing, the confidence of
the people to work with me. I want to organise camps in
different and exciting places to combine squash and leisure
time, whilst squash is my job, I know that people come on
these camps for their holiday so it's important they can
enjoy both squash and have a great holiday.
Tino and I do like the set up in Club La Santa and it's our
plan to come back to Lanzarote every year for the adults
Squash Camps.
If you have done it before, what is your best memory
out of a camp? And your worst!
I loved when I ran junior camps because I spent so much time
with kids and young players and they are so funny. They have
such a different vision of life and they are always happy
and with a smile on their faces.
The hardest part for me is when I'm in training as I have to
combine the holiday and my own training to keep up the level
I need to play at for up and coming events. I can spend 12
hours at the club and this is really tiring if you have to
do it for 2 weeks!
I know that when I teach somebody something, it helps
me understand myself what I'm teaching better. Do you find
it as well? Do you find you actually improve after coaching?
Sometimes you know the concept but if you don't used it you
forget it. But when you coach you're always coming up with
different practices and this helps to refresh your
knowledge, so that help you for sure. Also I'm always
learning things from other people I work with, both as a
player and a coach. It's great!
I
know you've worked a lot with John Milton. Are you inspired
from his coaching to coach yourself? Or do you just do
things you feel? Or a mixture of all?
John is an example for me. Firstly as a person and secondly
as great motivator and coach. He understands the game so
well and most importantly he knows how to communicate his
ideas. Of course he is a great example for me but I also
have my own ideas. Hopefully one day I can be as good coach
as him.
Anything else to add ?
WorldEnjoyer has delivered successful squash holidays and
camps across Spain for 12 years, each year offering more
options and dates. We are now offering these opportunities
to a greater number of international clients and want to
share an offer with you.
The great thing is they offer bespoke squash holidays and
training camps designed specifically for squash players from
your country. I'm pleased to be working with Tino and
WorldEnjoyer as they bring new ideas and experiences and
this will help us deliver a fantastic experience to everyone
who come on the camps
Both Tino and I prefer one week camps as this offers the
best combination of holiday and squash experience. We also
like to offer camps at competitive prices as providing a
great service is important to us.
