Sat 27th Jul, the Final

Four in a row for Egypt ...

Today's final of the WSF World Junior Team Championship at the Hasta La Vista Club in Wroclaw, Poland saw defending champions Egypt - who provided all four individual semi-finalists - collect an unprecedented fourth straight title (and six of the last eight too).

Their opponents, as in the 2011 final, were the USA, the second seeds.

Habiba Mohamed, just fourteen, got Egypt off to a winning start with a solid win over Reeham Sedky, leaving it to three-time individual champion Nour El Sherbini to wrap up the title for Egypt with victory over Sabrina Sobhy, also in straight games.

Earlier the remaining 14 teams fought out the remaining final positions with Hong Kong claiming third place with two nailbiting 3-2 wins to deny third seeds England a place on the podium.

It's Egypt v USA again

The World Junior Team final will be a repeat of the last event in Boston two years ago with Egypt taking on the USA.

Three-time defending champions Egypt beat Hong Kong, champions in 2005, 2-0. Nour El Sherbini put Egypt ahead and Marian Metwally finished it off, but not without a struggle.

In the second semi Sabrina Sobhy, sister of 2010 champion Amanda, came from 0-2 down to put USA ahead against five-time champions England.

Nada Elkalaawy levelled the match but in the decider Reeham Sedky's power and pace proved too much for Lily Taylor as the USA reached a secon consecutive final.
