The venue of the White Nights
Open was the Tauras-Fitness Squash Club and the promoter was
the Russian number three Valery Litvinko.
It was a lovely Squash Open played during the White Nights.
During the middle of June until the first week of July Saint
Petersburg is never dark, with sunlight for all 24 hours of
the day (incredible but true)
The Tournament featured the best squash players from Eastern
Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus), as well as players from
England, Wales, Spain and Egypt
The Champion of the Tournament was the Englishman from
Bristol Mike Gregory. He won in the final against the
Russian number one and PSA Player Alexey Severinov,
3-1 in a match where he showed to all the public what a good
player he is.
In the match for 3rd place the Ukranian player Konstantin
Rybolchenco beat Spain's Jordi Bercedo 3-2 in a
very close match which took 90 minutes to complete.
On
Saturday night was the tournament party in the Bali
Restaurant, one of the best restaurants in Saint Petersburg.
It was simply great, and the players, referees, and public
enjoyed a typical Russian Party where the Vodka was always
there..........

Mike Gregory (Eng) bt Alexey Severinov (Rus) 3-1
