Naudé nets fifth WISPA title
in Eindhoven ...
Tommy Berden reports
Annelize
Naudé secured the fifth WISPA title of her career with an
impressive display in the final of the Cabls SquashTime Open 2009
against Kanzy El Defrawy.
The 32-year old Dutch player lost the opening game against the
talented Egyptian – who at the age of fifteen was competing in her
first ever final on the WISPA World Tour – before taking control of
the match. While El Defrawy put up a spirited fight, she was unable
to get Naudé off the T, as the event’s favourite increased the tempo
and started to dominate play, eventually running out a 13-15, 11-6,
11-8, 11-6 winner.
It was Naudé’s second WISPA title in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.
Earlier this year she already won the Forexx Eindhoven Open 2009 in
the same city. Her three other career victories came in Creteil
(2008), Geneva (2004) and Sonderborg (2002).
Youth v Experience
in SquashTime final
The final of the Cabls SquashTime Open 2009 will be battle between
experience -Annelize Naudé - and youth -Kanzy Emad El Defrawy -
after both players reached the climax of the WISPA Tour 4
championship in Eindhoven in contrasting styles.
32-year old Naudé, the event’s top seed, was only troubled in the
second game against Canada’s Stephanie Edmison in her semi final.
The Dutch international was in sparkling form against her unseeded
opponent, winning 11-2, 11-8, 11-2 in less than thirty minutes.
15-year old El Defrawy needed almost twice as long to dispose of
Orla Noom, beating the higher ranked Dutch player in four close and
exciting games: 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 14-12.
The final of the Cabls SquashTime Open 2009 will be played Saturday
afternoon at 5pm ...

20h15."
